The latest pay equity (PE) offer by the Government will need to go to a vote of all Te Whatu Ora nursing staff, irrespective of union membership.

If the offer is accepted it will mean the following increases:

o   Senior nurses will receive a further 6.5% salary increase (in addition to the interim PE increases already applied and backdated to 6 March 2022).

o   Registered nurses, enrolled nurses, and healthcare assistants will receive a further 4.5% increase (on top of the agreement in principle of PE increases backdated to 6 March 2022, which involved increases from 11.6% to 14.6%).

o   These new rates will also be backdated to 6 March 2022.

o   Plus, a further $15,000 lump sum payment, pro-rated for service and FTE for the period 1 January 2020 to 6 March 2022, will be made; this is additional to the $10,000 (also pro-rated) already paid.

Under the proposed PE settlement, registered nurses would be on base pay rates from $69,566 plus penal rates (for new graduates) to $99,630 plus penal rates (for Year 7 nurses).  Senior nurse base rates would range from $105,704 to $153,060, plus penal rates.

Pay equity benefits apply to all Te Whatu Ora nursing staff, regardless of union membership.

If the offer is accepted, this will put an end to the ERA and Employment Court PE cases.
