"The fact that yet another health software platform has been shown to have inadequate security is clearly concerning and will hopefully prompt vendors and their clients to be more vigilant with their IT security."
Aside from being inconvenient, and time-consuming, temporary moves from online to paper-based systems increase risk of error, and extra vigilance is required.
While well-established manual systems for medications can enable safe medication administration, having to use such systems is time is efficient and inconvenient for staff coping with heavy workloads.
If necessary, Te Whatu Ora/Health New Zealand and the Ministry of Health need to be checking that appropriate standards are being met by health software companies.
