The Government pre-budget announcement that District Health Boards are to get an extra $3.92 billion over the next 4 years is clearly positive news. It will take annual DHB funding to well over $15 billion.
Nurses Society director David Wills says this extra funding absolutely needed. Past under-funding has done serious damage to the health service.
There is also a very welcome one-off $282.5 million to cover COVID-19 catch-up.
All up a welcome step in the right direction.
