Many of our members were in the first group to be offered COVID-19 vaccinations earlier in the year and are now keen to receive booster doses.
The Society recently made representations on the matter to the Ministry of Health and to various Government Ministers, including the Minister for COVID-19 Response. Consequently we are optimistic that a positive decision is very close and that booster doses will be authorised soon for nurses and other healthcare workers.
In due course booster doses may be routine for everyone.
A third primary dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine has already been approved for individuals with severe immunosuppression.
UPDATE: From 29 November 2021 booster doses available for anyone over the age of 18 years, 6 months after second dose.
