Getting rid of Lester Levy the Te Whatu Ora Commissioner will be widely welcomed across the health sector.

The appointment of a Commissioner was a serious mistake in the first place.  Moreover the appointment of Levy to the role only exacerbated that mistake.

Nurses Society director David Wills says the tenure of Levy will be remembered for a disastrous focus on cuts and a damaging ‘hiring freeze’.

Moreover it also resulted in a exodus of top leadership with some questionable replacements.   

Notably most of those 'out the door' were women and almost all of the replacements were men.
