The decision by the Government to maintain COVID-19 Level 3 in Auckland and Level 2 elsewhere in the country for a further 12 days is soundly-based and sensible.

Nurses Society director David Wills says, "It reflects a consistent and commendable evidence-based approach to decision-making by the Government."

"Moreover, the best economic response to COVID-19 is a strong public health response."

The decision earlier in the week to move all COVID-19 cases and family members into the Government managed quarantine facilities already used for the cases from managed isolation and the border is also a good call.

These steps should get the country back to it's enviable COVID-19 free state at the earliest.
